Commr secy tourism conveys meeting on construction of passenger ropeway at Shivkhori

Jammu, Mar 14 (KNS): Commissioner Secretary to Government Tourism Department Rigzin Samphel today conveyed a meeting in his office chambers Civil Secretariat Jammu to discuss the proposed Passenger Ropeway at Shivkhori.
Managing Director, J&K Cable Car Corporation, Shamim Ahmad Wani , General Manager RITES,NC Srivastava and other team of engineers of JKSCCC and M/s RITES attended the said meeting.
The said proposed Ropeway Project has already been approved by Chairman J&K State Cable Car Corporation for initiating the various processes of execution.
The Commissioner Secretary Tourism discussed in length the proposed Ropeway project and Managing director JKSCCC appraised the Commissioner Secretary about the details of the project and future course of action. General Manager RITES explained the technical details of the project and factors required for the Environment Clearance of the project. Managing director JKSCCC also briefed about the benefits accrued after implementation of the project.
The Commissioner Secretary desired to proceed ahead with the global tendering process of the project as soon as necessary Environment Clearance and land acquisition is obtained.
The Commissioner Secretary observed that this project would go a long way in promotion of tourism in Jammu region as well as facilitate the pilgrims who pay obeisance to the holy cave, which would in turn give a fillip to the economy of the areas by way of generating ample job opportunities for the people related with tourist activities as well as the youth.
The proposed Shivkhori Ropeway Project is fully Imported Monocable detachable gondola system about 1.75 KM in length with a carrying capacity of 2000 passenger per hour with 12 towers. (KNS)
