Clubbing of polling stations unacceptable, create new polling stations wherever necessary: PDP to CEO

Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday alleged that polling stations are being clubbed with an intent to lessen the chances of the participation of larger number of people in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, PDP vice president and former minister Abdul Rehman Veeri said that his party has already taken up the issue of clubbing of polling stations in the state with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and impressed upon him to create new polling stations wherever necessary to increase the possibilities of the participation of larger number of people in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Alleging that even the polling stations created in last assembly elections have been clubbed, Veeri demanded that such polling stations should not be clubbed but allowed to exist at their previous places to ensure that people in large numbers come out for polling in the remote rural areas and demanded that more polling stations should be created at places where people have to travel more than two kilometers to reach their polling stations.
