Cleanliness drive conducted by Bangus Valley Development Youth Forum

Srinagar, Jul 23 (KNS): A one-day cleanliness drive was conducted by Bungas Valley Development Youth Forum (NGO) at Handwara to spread the message of cleanliness to safeguard the environment.

Hundreds of people of from all walks of the life and students participated in the programme. They cleaned Handwara town voluntarily. The programme was flagged off at Additional Deputy Commissioner Office Handwara.

The programme was colourful due to the different slogans written on the placards in the hands of the students and volunteers. A rally was also organized through different streets of the town to spread the message of clean and green Handwara.

While addressing the gathering of social activists and senior trade union leader Syed Ghulam Rasool Geelani and Syed Rayees Iqbal Geelani appealed people to contribute in making Handwara clean and green. Geelani brothers urged upon the state administration to frame a clear-cut environmental policy to safeguard the environment and assist the concerned departments to ensure the green Handwara concept.

They thanked local administration and other organizations who supported in making this event a success. The other prominent personalities who spoke on this occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Mir, Aijaz Ahmad Sofi President traders federation Handwara. (KNS)
