Chairs of SDM, Tehsildar in Beerwah sub-division lying vacant from one and a half month

Srinagar, Oct 22 (KNS): The two vital chairs of Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar in central Kashmir’s Berwah tehsil of Budgam district are lying vacant from past one and a half months, leaving thousands of population to suffer immensely.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the transfer of erstwhile Tehsildar Peer Zahid and superannuation of SDM Aijaz Ahmad Wadoo has left the population of several villages into trouble as all revenue affairs and other related matters are pending at their respective offices.
Locals of the area told KNS that despite repeated communications were made to the higher ups but their requests were treated with a deaf ear. They alleged that authorities have failed to appoint new officers to the concerned offices so far.
“We are suffering a lot due to non-availability of these two important officials as our affairs related to revenue, agriculture and others are not being addressed since their transfer and superannuation”, representative of Civil Society Beerwah told KNS.
Reports said that several students and other needful are moving from pillar to post for addressing their genuine concerns.
“Like others I have applied for income certificate two months back but failed to get it due to non-appointment of Tehsildar in the area”, a student told.
Several locals of the area have registered their complaint, saying they are yet to get Domicile certificate despite passing of two months.
“As Government of UT has directed officials to issue Domicile certificates within five days and assured people any negligence in this regard would invite suspension of the employee but the locals of the area are yet to get Domicile despite applied for the same two months ago”, locals told.
They added though the office of Naib-Tehsildar is functioning in the area but the over-burden of work on his shoulders in absence of Tehsildar left him unable to attend the multiple corners.
They appealed Lieutenant Governor LG Sinha and concern Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and take early measures in appointment of the officials so that sufferings of locals will come to an end. (KNS)
