Centre's ban on LoC trade aimed to cash in on voters: PDF

Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNS): People's Democratic Front General Secretary has said that the ban on LoC trade is against the interests of the people of the state aimed by BJP government to cash in on voters amid ongoing parliament elections.

In a statement to KNS, PDF General Secretary Mir Abdul Qayoom asked why the government of India is taking anti-Kashmir decisions only when other trade ties with Pakistan are running smoothly and Samjhuta Express train is operational or Kartarpur Corridor is opened amid the surcharged situation.

"BJP does not want peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir and wants to reap electoral gains. Why didn't BJP government take such decisions in the last five years of its rule or during its three year's alliance with PDP in the state," he asked.

Banning LoC trade will hit the economy of the state and livelihood of those people who are associated with the trade.

"It is a double whammy on the economy of the Kashmiris, when the ban on civilians traffic for two days on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway has already dealt a blow to trade and normal life," he said.

"Such wrong decisions are anti-people and should be revoked without delay for the economic and larger interests of the people of the state," he said. (KNS)
