Srinagar, Sep 20 (KNS): Under Governor’s rule the central government commanded and controlled by BJP has fast tracked mega developmental projects discriminately in Jammu and let it go on a slow pace in Kashmir valley as the central teams are frequently tripping to Jammu to oversee the progress on key mega developmental projects kick started by the previous Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP coalition government.
Sources disclosed to KNS that in Jammu the work on smart city project has been fast paced during last three months and joint secretary highways is scheduled to visit Jammu tomorrow (Friday) to review the progress on smart city project with the top state government officials in Jammu. The Joint Secretary Highways, sources said “is also scheduled to visit Nashri and Chenani for reviewing the progress on Srinagar Jammu highway but he not coming to Kashmir to visit the pace of work on Jammu-Srinagar highway between Qazigund to Ramban. Interestingly the work on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Srinagar flyover is not nearing completion even after four years but on the contrary the Bikam Chowk flyover in Jammu the work on which was started with same Srinagar flyover is operational for the last one year. Many a times in the past when even Mehbooba led government was in place many deadlines were fixed for completion of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover but every time deadline is extended and the slow pace of work goes on.
It may be mentioned here that after withdrawal of its support to PDP in June this year the BJP president Amit Shah during his first visit to Jammu after the fall of Mehbooba government told a press conference that Mehbooba government ignored Jammu in distribution and execution of developmental projects in the state.
Interestingly the Home Minister Rajnath Singh too recently visited Jammu to inaugurate two smart border fence projects in Jammu and he instead of coming to Srinagar appealed Kashmir regional mainstream political parties for their participation in Municipal and Panchayat elections from Jammu only.
The Governor Satya Pal Malik Wednesday this week during his address to a conference of Deputy Commissioners and district SSPs at SKICC Srinagar impressed upon officers to fast track developmental activities on equal lines in all the three regions of the state. (KNS)
