Casual labourers, daily wagers of GDA stages protest demands regularization, minimum wages

Gulmarg August 25 (KNS): Casual labours and daily wagers of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday staged a strong protests against the authorities in front of CEO GDA Office at Gulmarg and were demanding regularization and minimum wages at the earliest.
Reports said that the causal labours and daily wagers assembled at CEO GDA Office Gulmarg, and staged a strong protest.
Casual labourers and daily wagers said that they were demonstrating against the “non-serious attitude” of the government towards casual and daily wagers working in various departments.
He said that the government should regularise the daily wagers, casual labourers, seasonal and temporary workers and providing minimum wages failing which they would intensify protest.
Other unions, especially the Jammu and Kashmir Casual and Daily-wagers Forum, too have been staging frequent protests in the summer capital in support of their demand for regularisation of services and minimum wages.
An employee of the GDA told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they are working in the department since long and have not been regularised by the authorities as they running the whole system in the famous ski resort and are working in the department since last 10 years 15 years 20 years and are getting six thousands monthly salary which are not enough in the present circumstances. Unfortunately majority of the casual labourers and daily wagers are now aged.
They have appealed the Lt. Governor to intervene in the matter.(KNS)
