Reaching out to Bandipora people, Mehbooba conducts public grievances camp, listens to their demands

Bandipora, Dec 03 (KNS): Deepening further her public outreach, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today reached here on a two day visit to convene a grievances redressal camp. During the day long camp, the Chief Minister listened to scores of deputations and hundreds of people who apprised her of their developmental needs and sought their redressal.
Legislators and ex legislators of the district were present on the occasion.
The deputations in general thanked the Chief Minister for bringing Government infrastructure at their doorstep to know their developmental needs and addressing them on spot. They also hailed her for withdrawal of cases against youth involved in various law and order cases adding that the process may be got expedited and the left over youth be also brought under the amnesty scheme introduced by the Chief Minister.
The demands put forth by the deputations during the day long public outreach programme today included strengthening the district hospital, pacing up the conservation works at the world famous Wullar lake, construction of Bandipora-Lolab road besides strengthening of road network and health facilities in the district.
Deputations from Bandipora town demanded immediate start of work on the Bus stand, operationalization of Putu Shahi grid station, opening of a Girls degree college in the town, construction of a Bye Pass road for the town, upgradation of Forest Training School, Chitranar, upgradation of Branch Middle School to a High School, devising a deep drainage project for the town, conservation of some historic spots and development of religious tourism in the area.
The deputations also demanded construction of walkway along Kaloosa-Sunarwani road to make it a tourist attraction, upgradation of Municipal Committee to a Council and establishment of a fruit mandi in the town. They also demanded early start of conservation works on the Wullar lake, strengthening of local hospital and construction of a community hall in the town, Bandipora-Kuloosa and Nusu footpaths to be re developed and development of old parks in the town. Demand of construction of tunnel at Razdan Pass on the Bandipora-Gurez road was also raised.
The Chief Minister announced an amount of Rs. 30 lacs for development of the famed Nishat garden in the town besides Rs. 10 lacs for installing street lights in the town.
A deputation of members of civil society from Hajin demanded establishment of a Degree College there, macadamization of interior roads, improvement in irrigation and health facilities in the town. They also sought reconstruction of administrative complex at Hajin, upgradation of Hajin-Sopore road and interior road links.
A deputation of youth from Sonawari demanded revival of Auqaf school at Asham, setting up of a nursing college, establishment of sheep villages in the area and setting up of a single window clearance mechanism for the youth opting for EDI projects, development of a herbal garden in the area and upgradation of Zalpura Middle school. They also demanded upgradation of irrigation facilities in the area including stabilisation of Malkuctch irrigation scheme.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 30 lac for completing work on the Malkuctch irrigation canal and directed its early completion.
Various deputations from Sumbal demanded construction of a community hall in the town, inclusion of Khurwan Sar into Manasbal Development Authority, construction of a 100 metre long Ghat on the river Jhelum, completion of work on Sumbal foot bridge, augmentation of health facilities and ending the dual control over health institutions in the area.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 1o lacs for construction of ghats on the river Jhelum and directed the construction of a community hall at Sumbal. She also directed provision of 300 electric poles for stabilising the power distribution network in the area besides release of Rs. Five lacs for installing street lights in the town market.
Deputations of various Gujjar patties demanded enhancement in Tribal Sub Plan and construction of various road links connecting their habitations. They also demanded inclusion of Shir Sar and Naga Marg on the tourist map, early construction of Bandipora-Lolab road and electrification of their habitations.
The Chief Minister announced that sufficient Solar Lights be made available to them.
A deputation of people from Lawaypora demanded upgradation of local water supply scheme. They also demanded strengthening power distribution network in Bankoot village and upgradation of local school besides development of tourist facilities at Athwatoo.
Many other deputations from Ashtengoo, Chitti Bandi, Gund Jehangir, Wullar banks, Argam, Shilwat and other areas of the District also met the Chief Minister and apprised her of their issues.
The Chief Minister listened to the demands of the deputations throughout the day and it continued till late in the night. In many of the cases Mehbooba Mufti gave on spot directions for the redressal of the grievances which was hailed by the deputationists.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; senior officers from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Planning Department; heads of several Departments; Chiefs of many Engineering wings; DIG, NKR,; Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Sajjad Ahmad; SSP, Zulfkar and officers of District administration were present on the occasion.
The public outreach programmes launched by the Chief Minister have evoked an interesting response from the public who come up with their problems for an on the spot redressal.
So far Mehbooba Mufti has conducted such programmes at Pulwama, Anantnag, Kuglam, Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla in Kashmir Valley and Ramban, Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu province during which hundreds of people apprised her about their problems and difficulties. (KNS)
