Kulgam, Nov 25 (KNS): Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today reached here on a two day visit to convene a grievances redressal camp. During the camp, which is part of her Public Outreach programme, the Chief Minister listened to scores of deputations and hundreds of people who apprised her of their developmental needs and sought their redressal.
Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo; MP, Nazir Ahmad Laway; legislators and ex legislators of the district were present on the occasion.
According to KNS, the deputations in general thanked the Chief Minister for reaching out to people to know their developmental needs and addressing them on spot.
The demands put forth by the deputations during the day long public outreach programme included rationalisation of administrative units in the district, construction of protection bunds on nallah Vaishow, opening of fire service stations, augmentation of drinking water schemes and strengthening of road network and health facilities in the district.
A deputation of members of civil society from Kulgam demanded upgradation of library in the town, upgradation of Middle School Chawalgam to High School, arrangements for civil services coaching for the youth during winters, introduction of more trades at the local ITI, upgradation and widening of Wanpoh-Chawalgam-Ahrabal, Chawalgam-Sangas and Tamil Okey-Chawalgam roads and introduction of agro-tourism in some product specific villages.
The Chief Minister directed installation of street lights in Kugam town by the end of December for which she asked the Deputy Commissioner to monitor, introduction of some more streams at the local ITI. She also announced release of Rs. Five lac for upgrading the local library.
Several deputations from Kund area demanded upgradation of High School, Waltengoo, carving out of zones of Horticulture, Agriculture, Education Departments, construction of Hakradan-Kanchloo, Batpora-Kraloo, Waripora-Chattergam bridges and widening of Y K Pora-Wasikhnag and Ruzulu-Chattergam-Nuboo roads. They also demanded shifting of maintainence of Ruzulu-Laad canal to be shifted in PMKSY. They demanded completion of Panzgam Naar, Kachloo water supply scheme at the earliest.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 30 lac for completion of Water Supply Scheme, Panzgam Naar and directed its operationalization by January end.
Several deputations from Devsar demanded construction of protection bunds along nallah Vaishow to protect the adjoining villages from floods. They also sought stabilisation and maintenance of Maav, Noorabad, Mehndi and other canals in the area and operationalization of lift irrigation scheme, Devsar besides opening of a fire service station in the town.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 50 lac for the early completion of Peth Devsar lift irrigation scheme.
A deputation of members of Bar Association demanded construction of more chambers for lawyers, setting up the court of Additional District Judge, space for setting up more courts and upgradation of the Bar library.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 10 lacs for up gradation of the Bar library. She also directed exploring the possibility of construction of an auditorium in the town.
The Chief Minister listened to the demands of the deputations throughout the day and it continued till late in the night. In many of the cases Mehbooba Mufti gave on spot directions for the redressal of the grievances which was hailed by the deputationists.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Commissioner-Secretary, PDD/Urbal Development Department; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; senior officers from the Planning Department; heads of several Departments; Chiefs of many Engineering wings; DIG, SKR, S P Pani; Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Talat Parvez; SSP, Shridhar Patil and officers of District administration were present on the occasion.
The public outreach programmes launched by the Chief Minister have evoked an interesting response from the public who come up with their problems for an on the spot redressal.
So far Mehbooba Mufti has conducted such programmes at Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla in Kashmir Valley and Ramban, Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu province during which hundreds of people apprised her about their problems and difficulties. (KNS)
