CM orders time-bound inquiry in Neelam Devi “murder” case

Srinagar, Oct 09 (KNS): Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Friday said that JK Police was more reliable and authentic than the country’s premier investigating agency, CBI.
According to a KNS correspondent, Mufti who was replying to the calling attention of the CPI (M) legislator MY Tarigami on police’s “inaction’’ to solve the alleged murder case of a woman Jammu, asked the police to start a time-bound investigation in it.
“To clear your doubt, I must tell you our police is more reliable, transparent, authentic than CBI. You must repose faith in your own police force,” Mufti said while replying to Independent legislator MY Tarigami, who was demanding case to be referred to CBI.
Tarigami alleged that police was covering the alleged murder case of Neelami Devi of Guru Kalyal Morha Sarni in District Kathua whose body was found floating in a well along with another male body in March last year.
Mufti said that there were no external injuries on the body. “There was no animosity still we will hold lie detector test since there is some suspicion into the case,” Mufti said.
He also directed DGP to investigate the case by a special police officer to probe the incident.
Earlier, PDP minister Abdul Haq Khan said that IGP would be directed to constitute a SIT to investigate the matter. “It is not necessary to refer every case to CBI. We will ask IGP Jammu to constitute a SIT to probe into the matter,” he said.
However, demanding case to be referred to CBI Tarigami said, “The family are accusing that police is trying to cover up the case as more than year has passed but there is no breakthrough in the investigations.” (KNS)
