Srinagar, Nov 13 (KNS): Dr Raghav Langer, Chief Executive Officer, J&KERA/JTFRP today reviewed the progress of work on the construction of two composite market centre’s for Silk and Wool at Rajbagh and Bemina. The market centers are being developed in Srinagar at an approximate cost of Rs 35.88 crores and are being executed under the restoration and strengthening of Livelihood component of JTFRP (Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery project) funded by World Bank for restoration and strengthening the infrastructure needs of Industries and Commerce Dept which is also the project implementation unit for the component.
Dr.Raghav Langer, Chief Executive Officer, ERA /JTFRP who today conducted the site inspection of under construction composite market centre for whole chain silk activity at Rajbagh, Srinagar was informed that the facility would involve the construction of two storeyed building having a plinth area of 15,000 sft which is estimated to cost Rs 12.5 crores. The project also includes procurement of new state of art machinery, interior works and designs of showrooms and repairs/restoration of existing showrooms .Team Leader, Technical and Quality Audit consultants of JTFRP informed CEO that as on date 27% physical progress has been achieved and work on the project is expected to be completed by Oct, 2019. CEO inspected the onsite laboratory which has been set up for conducting the quality testing of construction materials and directed the contractor and consultants to make the lab fully functional
Later on CEO ERA/JTFRP inspected work on the construction of composite market centre for wool at Bemina, Srinagar which would include single storied complex, exclusive showroom for wool products manufactured by Bemina, woolen mills. The project also includes the procurement of new state of art machinery, interior works and designs of showrooms CEO ERA was informed that date of completion of the work is April, 2018 as on date 67% physical progress has been achieved.
Chief Executive Officer, ERA/JTFRP directed consultants and officers of JTFRP, Industries and Commerce to strictly ensure quality parameters of the work and also ensure periodic third party tests of construction material being used for construction are done on regular basis and ensure that only tested materials are used for the construction. The two composite market centres will give a major impetus to Silk and Wool sectors by ensuring backward and forward linkages. (KNS)
