Blocking ads to GK, KR akin to gauging Media: Congress

 Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Sunday condemned the Govt move to block the Advertisements to Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Reader, describing it as retaliatory measure to throttle the free press.
The party as per a statement issued to KNS also said that this move amounts to gauging the media, which is undemocratic, against the ethics of journalism.
Commenting on the blocking of Advertisements to Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Reader, the JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir expressed surprise over this move terming it as a retaliatory measure and urged upon the Govt to revoke the orders so passed against the newspapers, forthwith.
He asked the Govt to stop strangulation of Greater Kashmir, Kashmir reader or any other newspaper, as that, nothing can be achieved out of such undemocratic measures.
Hundreds of the people are dependent on these Media Houses and blocking of advertisements will have serious implications on their livelihood, G.A. Mir added and cautioned that such retaliatory measures is going to have serious implications, ahead. (KNS)
