Biometric attendance fails to ensure presence of employees in Govt deptts: Civil Society Handwara

Srinagar, Jun 17 (KNS): Civil Society Handwara and Traders Federation Handwara said that the biometric attendance in the government offices have failed to ensure the presence of employees in the departments.

The duo associations in a statement to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that despite spending huge amount on the installation of biometric attendance, the initiative of biometric attendance has failed to ensure the presence of employees in the government departments.

They said some of the biometric machines are lying defunct while the others are not being used, adding that none of the officials are checking the attendance of the employees in the district.

The associations further said there was no accountability and the fear of such a machine among the employees who don’t attend the offices is nowhere.

“People here suffer in absence of the employees in the government departments. Whenever locals visit the departments they are being told that the officers are in a meeting but in actuality they (employees) don’t visit the offices,” he said.

They appealed the Governor Satya Pal Malik and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan to look into the matter and fulfill their demands. (KNS)
