Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNS): Days after the Kashmiri man was arrested in New Delhi over his alleged involvement in 2000 Red Fort attack case, the family on Friday took to streets against his arrest and demanded his immediate release
Kashmiri man, Bilal Ahmad Kawa of Aali Kadal was arrested on Jan in New Delhi against hi alleged involvement in 2000 Red Fort attack case. Kawa as per the Police was on run since the attack took place and was frequently changing his location.
The family today assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans in favour of their beloved one’s immediate release.
The family as well as the relatives of Kawa said that he has been arrested on ‘baseless’ charges, which he never committed. “17 years ago when this incident occurred, our son was too young and was at home. Our beloved is being implicated in false case,” family said.
Questioning his arrest in 17 years old incident, Kawa’s family said that he was carrying some eatables with him and how is that possible to perform a major attack with the eatables ahead of the Jan 26.
Refuting the official claims about his ‘plans’ of perform ingmajor attack ahead Jan 26, Fatima Begum, mother of Kawa said he had gone to Delhi for a medical check-up as he had pain in his body.
“My beloved son was having high cholesterol. So, we thought for better medication, why not to go to Delhi, as we had own house there,” she said.
The family also said that they met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan, seeking his intervention into the matter. “We met with IGP Kashmir yesterday and urged him to intervene into the matter and ensure his immediate release,” they said.
Pertinently, on December 22, 2000, three Army troopers were killed in indiscriminate firing at Red Fort. (KNS)
