Be responsible citizens, stay away from organizing public meets: SSP Srinagar

Srinagar, May 01 (KNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughal on Friday appealed people of rural areas of the district to play their role as a civilized and responsible citizen of the society and stay away from organizing any public assembly in wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), SSP Srinagar appealed people hailing from rural areas of Srinagar district to play their role as a responsible citizen of the society. He urged them to stay away from conducting or organizing any public assembly.
“It has come to our notice that people from rural areas of the district where our regular movement remains low, are conducting public assemblies which is a great threat for society in wake of Covid-19 pandemic. I appeal them to stay away from conducting public or religious meetings and don’t make police exhausted in containing situation”, SSP said.
He said, “In wake of Covid-19 pandemic, not only Police or civil administration has to be responsible, but people by and large has to be responsible and have to take the responsibility to assist authorities at this juncture so that pandemic could be defeated together”.
SSP said from last 45 days, Jammu and Kashmir Police is on toes to ensure lockdown restrictions successfully. “Srinagar district has extra burden as it has lot of pressure from neighboring districts, Besides huge flow of medical referrals from far off places of Valley, we have to contain incoming and outgoing traffic of Parimpora Fruit Mandi that supplies fruits and vegetables across Kashmir on regular basis. Also there are employees from other district who are using Srinagar on daily basis, which J&K Police has to manage regularly”, he said.
He appealed people in general that whosoever returned Valley after February 14, to reveal their travel history to nearest police station or health centre where they will be thoroughly screened and checked. (KNS)
