Bandipora, Dec 04 (KNS): The PDP’s Bandipora wing alleged that MLA Congress leader and MLA Bandipora, Usman Majeed opposed the establishment of Women’s Degree College in Bandipora during CMs Public Darbar in the district Bandipora on Sunday.
Mohammad Amin Mir, Party's Zonal President said that during his meeting with Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in Public Darbar, their deputation made a fervent demand for Women’s Degree College. However, MLA Bandipora who was present at the occasion intervened in the matter and opposed the said demand saying “we don’t need it”.
Mir said while CM Mehbooba Mufti was positive, the MLA spoiled their case. He expressed deep regrets over the opposition from MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed for establishment of Women’s Degree College in the district.
PDP General Secretary and former MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin-Bhat told KNS on the sidelines of the Darbar lashed out at Majeed for opposing the setting up of Women’s Degree in Bandipora.
“A delegation of PDP led by Mohd Amin Mir made a fervent demand for Women’s College in Bandipora. But unfortunately Local MLA intervened into the said matter and opposed the demand which is quite unfortunate,” he said.
Bhat said Mehbooba led Government has ushered an era of peace and development in the State, which have no parallels in the annals of the history and this has induced a sense of fear in the minds of opposition, which is now resorting to political gimmick to further their ulterior political motives.
However, MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed denied such allegations and said PDP is trying to exploit peoples’ sentiment.
He added that these are baseless allegations against me that I opposed the demand of women’s college.
“Truth is that it was the CM who rejects the demand of the college, not me,” he said.
Majeed blamed Ex-MLA Bandipora Bhat for giving baseless and misleading statements regarding the opposition for establishment of Women’s Degree College in Bandipora.
“The issue regarding the establishment of Women’s Degree College in Bandipora was raised by me in previous Assembly session as well as in consecutive years District Development Board meetings also. There is a full proof record of it,” he said.
Majeed said he raised this issue regarding an establishment of women’s college in Bandipora in the Board meeting in the month of April 2017. (KNS)
