Ban on JKLF: JRL calls for shutdown tomorrow

Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNS): Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Saturday called for a complete shutdown tomorrow (Sunday) against the decision of banning Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by Muhammad Yasin Malik.

In a statement issued to KNS, JRL said, “The Government of India’s decision of banning the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front for five years is highly authoritarian, autocratic and pure political vendetta.”

They said after banning Jamaat-e-Islami, JKLF has been targeted. JRL urged people of Kashmir to observe a complete shutdown on March 24 (Sunday) across Kashmir against the arbitrary and undemocratic decision of GoI to ban the JKLF.

JRL said that “the way GoI is announcing bans and crackdowns on the organizations associated with the Kashmir struggle, arresting the leadership and slapping them with draconian PSAs, killing youth in custody arresting youth and slapping them with PSAs and using force and fear to muzzle the peoples struggle for resolution of the Kashmir dispute exposes the hollow claims of democracy of Indian government and also its aggressive and anti-human tactics adopted towards the peace loving people of Kashmir.”

They said that by employing the ultimate repressive measures, GoI can’t neither break the resolve of people of Kashmir nor push the resistance leadership to submission.

JRL said that by imposing bans on organizations and booking resistance leaders in fake cases and lodging them in jails, New Delhi can’t change the reality of the Kashmir issue. (KNS)
