Awantipora, October 26(KNS):In the memory of Police martyrs and to pay tributes to the martyrs, SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem-JKPS today flagged off 8 kms cross country run named as "Run for Unity" which was organized by District Police Awantipora wherein 184 boys/girls of different age groups of different areas participated.

The event started at early morning on Monday from DPL Crossing village Jawabera through National Highway upto Village Barsoo (CTC crossing Khenibugh) and back. Boys and girls were flagged off into two groups separately.

During the flag off ceremony SSP Awantipora interacted with the participants and expressed that "the event run for Unity has been organised in the honour of police martyrs for remembering their courage, valour and sacrifices they made for the unity and integrity of the Nation as well as in protecting the life and property of the people."

During closing ceremony, SSP Awantipora distributed Cash reward, mementos and certificates among the first six winners of the event. He also participation certificate among all the participants. SSP Awantipora expressed in the vote of thanks that Police is aimed to provide the sports platform for the youth to boost their sports activities and to remain away from the drug abuse and thanked the participants and all other for joining the event and making the event successful.

While interacting with Media person SSP Awantipora expressed that Jammu and Kashmir Police is on fore front in organizing various sports events as it brings positive energy in the youth, brings sports spirit, competitive spirit and good health . He further stated that more sports activities shall be organized in the Police District Awantipora in future.``(KNS)
