Oppositions rock Assembly on 2nd day; Cong MLA injured House adjourned till tomorrow

Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNS): Protesting disallowing discussion on the beef ban issue, rehabilitation of flood victims and tax on pilgrimage, the opposition National Conference, Congress and independent legislators rocked the Legislative Assembly on its second day on Monday.
The speaker had to adjourn the house only after five minutes it started as NC, Congress and independent MLAs including Engineer Abdul Rashid, Hakim Muhammad Yaseen and M Y Tarigami demanded debate on the issues including beef ban, rehabilitation of the flood victims and tax on pilgrimage.
Demanding suspension of question- answer session and start debate on issues including beef ban and flood relief, opposition legislators stormed the well of the house, tore papers and threw them towards speaker and climbed the tables in the house.
During the ruckus Congress MLA Usmnan Majeed got injured while clashing with the marshals. The marshals also drag out the NC legislators Ashfaq Jabbar and Majeed Larmi. One marshal is also believed to have got injured while preventing protesting legislators from storming the podium of the Speaker.
As speaker LA Kavinder Gupta began the session proceeding opposition legislators stood up from their seats and displayed banners reading, “don’t exploit flood victims” and “stop interference in the religious affairs”.
The protesting legislators resorted to anti- PDP- BJP sloganeering and stormed into the well of the house, prompting speaker to adjourn the house for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, NC and Congress legislators continued to protest and raised slogans that, “Mufti- Modi hy hy, RSS agenda nahi chalega nahi chalega” down with Mufti Modi government and no to RSS agenda.
The NC, Congress and other independent MLAs created ruckus again in the house after the first adjournment and again stormed into well of the house. Except BJP MLA Ravider Raina and minister for PHE Sukhnandan Kumar almost every minister and legislator of the present dispensation maintained silence and did not react to the allegations and slogans of protesting legislators.
Speaker had to adjourn the house second time for one hour as protesting legislators did not agree to pacify.
The NC legislators led by party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar raised anti- Mufti and anti- Modi slogans. “Modi- Mufti Nahi Chalega, Nagpur agenda nahi chalega, RSS agenda nahi chalega” no to Modi-Mufti, no to Nagpur agenda, no to RSS agenda slogans were raised by the protesting NC legislators.
Even after the two adjournments of the house due the ruckus created by the NC, Congress and Independent legislators, they did not let the question- answer to begin and continued anti- government sloganeering.
Speaker LA Kavinder Gupta told to the protesting legislators that he would not allow debate on beef ban issue under section 7 of rule 58. The announcement prompted legislators to storm again into well of the house and resorted to massive anti PDP- BJP and anti- RSS sloganeering.
NC legislators Altaf Ahmad Kaloo and Majeed Larmi and Usman Majeed of Congress climbed the table of the secretary. However, marshals bring them down from the table and marshaled out NC legislators Ashfaq Jabbar and Majeed Larmi .
However, without proceeding on question- answer session Speaker adjourned the Assembly till Tuesday (October- 06). (KNS)
