Srinagar, Nov 07 (KNS): Member Legislative Assembly Sonwar, Mohammed Ashraf Mir today inaugurated first aid & emergency room here at Government Kashmir Nursing Home (GKNH)
On the occasion, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar Professor Samia Rashid and Medical Superintendent Dr Jehangir Bakshi were also present. The facilities have been set-up after taking cognizance of increased incidence of road traffic accidents under Disaster Preparedness Protocol of Government Medical College Srinagar, which also include standby Emergency Theatres, TRIAGE and extended outdoor health shelters and parking facilities to prepare for natural disasters.
Inaugurating the first aid & emergency facilities, the MLA assured the public and patients in particular that he would take personal interest to ensure upgradation of facilities in the hospital. He appreciated the functioning of the Medical Oncology wing of the Government Kashmir Nursing Home and the services provided to cancer patients. He also approved wall murals by students of Institute of Music & Fine Arts and other initiatives of the hospital administration to make the hospital patient-friendly.
The MLA also inaugurated free super speciality medical camp that was jointly organized by Government Medical College Srinagar and Active Relief Kashmir. Specialists in Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Medicine, Endocrinology, Surgery, Gynecology and Rheumatology provided the free consultation to a huge number of patients. Patients were provided with free medicines and free investigations during the camp. The public appreciated the efforts of MLA and requested the authorities to conduct such type of camps in the near future also. (KNS)
