Srinagar, Jul 24 (KNS): As suspense over extension of summer break in schools continues in Kashmir, no official of the Education Department was available to clear the confusion.

KNS made several calls to the Commissioner Secretary and Director Education to take their comment over the issue. However, unfortunately despite repeated calls there was no response.

Several parents made calls to the KNS appealing authorities to extend the summer break at least till Monday in view of prevailing heat wave. Srinagar recorder maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

“There is hardly any facility available in schools especially the government ones in the Valley and how can our children attend classes in this scorching heat. In most of the schools, neither there is potable water facility, nor any cooling gadgets and the government wants little children to suffer,” Ali Mohammad, a parent told KNS.

Another parent said that in this scorching heat even adults are finding it hard to travel. “The government shall consider extending vacations as the searing temperate are beyond ones control,” he said.

Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has also demanded extension of summer holidays for schools in Kashmir division in view of the continuing hot weather.

Advisor to Governor Farooq Khan had on Tuesday said, “As of now we have not decided anything about extending the summer vacations. The decision will be taken only after considering the ground situation.”

Meanwhile, the KNS management has taken strong exception about some social media groups circulating the news attributing to it about extension of the vacations. The KNS management has warned these groups of legal action against them for circulating false news attributing to it. (KNS)
