Art 370 has taken permanent shape in Indian constitution, can’t be revoked: Irfan Ansari

Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNS): Peoples Conference (PC) candidate for Lok Sabha constituency, Irfan Raza Ansari on Tuesday said that Article 370 has taken a permanent shape in Indian constitution, terming the BJP’s promise over its abrogation as ‘gimmick’.

Irfan Ansari while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that BJP had promised the abrogation of Article 370 in their previous manifesto as well but couldn’t do so, as the Article that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir has taken a permanent shape, therefore nobody can annul it.

He also called the BJP’s promise about abrogation of Article 370 in its manifesto as gimmick, saying people should not pay heed over it as nothing can happen with the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

About ban on civilian movement on highway on every Wednesday and Sunday, he said that such decisions are being taken in New Delhi and it was unfortunate this kind of order was issued.

“Kashmir is being turned into garrison. The decision to ban movement of civilian twice a week has left traders, patients and others to suffer,” he said, adding that PC has also registered protest in this regard and demand revocation of the order at an earliest.

He also said that PC Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone has written to the Governor Satya Pal Malik in this regard and “we hope the decision will be revoked.” (KNS)
