Apprises him about socio-economic and political situation in J&K



Srinagar, October 3(KNS): Apni Party vice president Zaffar Iqbal Manhas called on Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and apprised him of the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir, stressing on the need to end the cycle of violence by addressing alienation among the youth.
In a statement issued to KNS reads, Manhas said that the meeting discussed the growing indifference and cynicism among the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly the youth who feel alienated in absence of a peaceful engagement by the government of India.
Manhas briefed the Lt. Governor that the people of J&K have suffered immensely during the turmoil of the past three decades and were looking up to the country’s leadership to end an atmosphere of socio-economic and political uncertainty with some purpose oriented confidence building measures.
Besides the pending regularization of daily wagers, drug addiction among youth, scarcity of drinking water particularly in Kandi areas of Shopian, Manhas urged the Lt. Governor to for ordering installation of over a dozen bore wells as a special case in Shopian district to address the irrigation problem faced by farmers and orchardists.
He also stressed on the need to make Mughal road a hassle free regional connectivity link for passengers particularly locals on both sides of this historic road that connects Pir Panjal with Kashmir valley. The Apni Party vice president also urged the Lt. Governor to order commencement of work on already approved Chanchmarg- Dubjan road at the earliest.(KNS)
