Kichloo calls for focused attention towards education of girl child

Nagrota, Jan 28 (KNS): Former minister and National Conference MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo on Sunday called for focused attention towards female literacy, saying though much has been done yet many girls were deprived of the opportunity to go to schools.
“We have to break the myth that education was not as important for girls as for boys and therefore create an atmosphere wherein female literacy gains impetus”, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said while addressing students of Diamond Public School, Bajalta at its Annual Day Function.
Kichloo expressed satisfaction over girls excelling in education and said such a competitive spirit is needed to be encouraged in rural areas so that girls don’t lack behind compared to their urban counterparts. He said education of girls is imperative for their overall empowerment and complimented the school in sharing its bounden responsibility in this regard.
The MLC urged upon the school management to give due attention towards imparting moral education and stressed the need for exploring hidden talent of students and providing them opportunities to prove their mettle, not only in the field of education but also in sports and other extracurricular activities.
Kichloo said grooming young children is a big challenge for parents as also the school management and hoped that proper synergy between the two will hugely help in achieving desired objectives. He urged the school management to maintain pace with modern trends in the field of education which can put students in a good stead to face the most competitive age with much more confidence and vigour.
Describing Annual Day Function as a special occasion for young children, Kichloo hoped that such events will prove beneficial for students to demonstrate their talent in various spheres of activity. He referred to the participation of young children in various activities and said extra-curricular activities are imperative for overall growth and personality development. He exhorted them to concentrate on sports alongside academics as it is necessary for sharpening their capabilities.
Presenting Annual Report of Diamond Public School, Principal Joginder Singh dwelt elaborately upon the strides made in academics and other extra-curricular activities over the years. He reiterated that the school is endeavouring to provide best education as also congenial atmosphere for students to grow.
Kichloo complimented the students for presenting scintillating cultural programme and achieving distinction in academics and sports activities.
The MLC also announced Rs 1.00 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund for the library and laboratory of the Diamond Public School.
Besides students, parents, faculty and the staff of the school, prominent among those present at the Annual Day function included Suman Thakur Vice Principal, Zahida Sheikh, Zonal Education Officer Gandhi Nagar, Ch Rehmat Ali, Mohan Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Mohan Lal and others. (KNS)
