Amit Shah to hold security review meet tomorrow, causes of rifle snatching incidents likely to dominate proceedings

Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNS):  Union Home Minister Amit Shah who arrived in Srinagar on a two-day visit to Kashmir valley is likely to take stock of the security situation at a high level security meeting tomorrow on Thursday during which the issues of rifle snatching incidents and policemen quitting jobs for joining militant ranks are likely to dominate the proceedings of the high level security review meet.

Top sources while disclosing this to Kashmir News Service (KNS) revealed that Home Minister has taken a serious note of the rifle snatching incidents at the government owned residential houses and private residential houses of former legislators and ministers during the last two years and the policemen fleeing with the rifles for joining militant ranks.

The Home Minister, according to sources will take a brief from the top brass of Jammu and Kashmir police, intelligence wing of the Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF, Army and other central forces who are part of counter militancy operations in Kashmir valley.

It is in place to mention here that in several cases of rifle snatching incidents at the residences of former legislators and ministers, policemen went missing with the rifles and joined militant ranks. Interestingly National Investigative Agency (NIA) questioned several legislators in connection with rifle snatching incidents at their official residences in high security zones of Srinagar city and even summoned them to Delhi for questioning last year and early this year. (KNS)
