Srinagar, July 20 (KNS): The annual Amarnath Yatra has crossed a major milestone with more than 3 lakh pilgrims having paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas since the pilgrimage began on July 03.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday expressed gratitude for the spiritual success of the yatra and shared his sentiments through a social media post.

“By the grace of Baba Amarnath Ji, the holy pilgrimage has surpassed the 3 lakh mark today. This sacred journey is a deeply enriching experience. May Baba’s blessings bring peace, strength and fulfilment to all. Har Har Mahadev!” office of LG said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

This year, the Amarnath Yatra 2025 is scheduled to continue for 38 days, concluding on August 5, the day of Raksha Bandhan and Shravan Purnima. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), along with Jammu and Kashmir administration, has deployed over 50,000 personnel, including security forces, disaster response teams, and medical units, ensuring round-the-clock support to the yatris.

Facilities such as widened tracks, oxygen booths, RFID tracking, and upgraded accommodation at various halting points have significantly improved the pilgrimage experience.

Despite an initial terror attack near Pahalgam ahead of the yatra, the pilgrimage has proceeded smoothly with unprecedented public support and cooperation from local communities, who have been actively welcoming pilgrims.

Officials expect the number of pilgrims to cross the 5 lakh mark before the yatra concludes.(KNS)
