Srinagar, Jun 24 (KNS): Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, today praised the working of Private Education sector in bringing quality education to masses and developing the personalities of students by various extra-curricular activities.
The Minister was speaking to a large audience that had gathered at SKICC to witness the first ever inter school state level symposium and naat competition organised by Private Schools Association of Kashmir. The Minister was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah was the Guest of Honour. Heads of prominent schools and office bearers of PSAK were also present on the occasion
The Minister felicitated and distributed prizes and mementos among the student who achieved positions in Symposium and Naat competition. Bukhari congratulated the PSAK for organizing the competition and announced Rs 5000 each to the participating students.
The district competitions were held at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Green Valley, JK Public School, Radiant School, Arqam School and Alexandra School
Meer Aqib (Scholars School), Shahzeb (Muslim Public School), Ayesha (R P School) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Naat competition whereas Muqadasa Sayeed (Green Valley Educational Institute), Numa Shamim (Presentation Convent) and Afham Ajaz (Radiant School) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Symposium
While congratulating the position holders Bukhari said, “through these competitions, the student get a chance to showcase their talent and such activities boost their confidence in a major way.”
On the occasion, Bukhari praised private schools for providing good services with regards to education. He said that government treats the private schools as its partners rather than competitors.
The Minister called on the private schools to look beyond cities and cater to far flung villages of the state too. “Private schools have covered larger part of urban education and now they should reach out to the far flung areas to cater to the educational needs and supplement government efforts,” Bukhari said.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the government is committed to address all the problems in the education, be it with private education system or in government institutions. (KNS)
