Anantnag, Aug 21 (KNS): Senior leader and PDP Chief Spokesperson Rafi Ahmad Mir addressing a day long convention of party workers asked them to unite to protect state’s honour and distinct identity.
Underlining the need for safeguarding the interests of the state , Mir said that PDP has also filed an intervention plea in the Supreme Court and have retained a team of lawyers to defend Article 35-A.
Stating that Mir said that PDP had always advocated for protecting state’s special status and even during being a part of the government, Mehbooba Mufti ensured that appropriate response is filed.
He said that the party also ensured that BJP agrees to protecting state’s special position by virtue of Agenda of Alliance. Mir said that “time has come that New Delhi responds positively to the aspirations of people, the Central Government must take a strong legal position to ensure that a state that graciously merged with the Nation is honoured today otherwise the people will be pushed to the wall for no fault of theirs and it will have far reaching ramifications”.He urged the right thinking people to unite keeping aside political affiliations.
Later, Mir urged the party workers on maintaining close coordination between administration and party workers, Mir said this will ensure resolving of maximum public issues within limited timeframe.
He also asked them to intensify the party activities in close laison with the youth and to establish constructive contact with general masses. Mir said periodic meetings should be held at block and booth levels to fulfill expectations of the general public.
On youth, Mir sought the participation of youth in a collective effort to restore peace and stability in the State.
He said that all must unite irrespective of political affiliations to protect the state’s honour and political identity. (KNS)
