JKLF chairman grieved over demise of Bashir Ahmad Khan

Srinagar, Aug 15 (KNS): Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and many other JKLF leaders and activists have been arrested by police on the eve of Independence Day today, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKLF spokesman said that police today morning raided the residence of Malik and arrested him. “Police yesterday arrested JKLF vice chairman Showkat Bakhshi and Zonal organizer Bashir Kashmiri and shifted them to police station Kothibagh along with JKLF chairman,” he said.
It is worth to mention that police earlier have arrested JKLF district president Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) along with many JKLF activists including Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani Koreg, Ghulam Muhammad Sofi, Rayees Ahmad Sofi, Muhammad Yousuf, Mushtaq Ahmad Goursa, Qaiser Ahmad and others. The arrested have been kept in different police stations.
“From last one week police have been summoning many other political leaders and activists to police stations and even raided many others houses to arrest them,” he said.
JKLF while strongly condemning these oppressive measurers unleashed by authorities said that for celebrating independence day, Indian rulers through their local supporters use ‘every type of undemocratic and dictatorial’ measures which is actually ridiculous and shameful.
JKLF strongly condemned these ‘oppressive measures’ and spree of arrests.
Meanwhile, Malik has expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of Bashir Ahmad Khan of Lasibal Islamabad (Anantnag) who breathed his last after suffering from a severe heart attack today.
The deceased was the father of famous resistance activist Irfan Khan.
While paying tributes to the departed soul, Malik said that his humbleness, his dedication and gentleman attitude will always be remembered.
He said that while his young son Irfan Khan used to be in jail, this humble father firmly stood behind him and fought legal battles for his release. “He was really a caring father and a noble soul whose absence will be felt,” Malik said.
Malik while expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family especially to his son Irfan Khan, prayed for the heavenly abode of the deceased. (KNS)
