Srinagar, Apr 22 (KNS): As the intermittent rains continued to lash Valley for the third consecutive day on Saturday, the water level in the river Jhelum is flowing at alarming level at Srinagar, officials said.
The officials said that the two days of rains in the Valley has increased the water level in the river Jehlum. “The water level started increasing since the intervening night of Friday-Saturday and is currently flowing at alarming mark,” he said.
Notably, the alert level mark in Jhelum at Ram Munshibagh is 16 feet and the flood is declared at 18 feet.
The officials informed that incase the weather would remain dry in the next 24 hours; the water level in the river Jehlum will start receding by evening. “We have issued an advisory to the people residing nearer to the river Jehlum following the increase of water level in the river Jehlum,” he said.
Earlier in this month, after the incessant rains for more than three days, the flood like situation was witnessed in the Valley, which has caused damage to the houses and other buildings in the Valley. (KNS)
