After gap of 3 months, electricity bills knocks at consumer doors

Srinagar, Nov 01 (KNS): After the gap of over three months, Power Development Department (PDD) has finally started to deliver monthly electricity bills to its consumers.

Notably, after August 5 when New Delhi repealed special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution, normal life in Kashmir Valley came to a grinding halt. Authorities imposed restrictions to maintain law and order situation across Kashmir Valley and hence every kind of trade and business remained shut.

Reportedly the consumers in Kashmir have started to receive joint bill for the months of July, August and September.

One of the consumers while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said, “Yes, we received the monthly bill after a gap of 90 days,” said Abdur Rashid, a resident of B K Pora”.

Witness told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that electricity bills had been delivered in many parts of civil lines and central Kashmir. “This is a new burden for us. We can’t pay huge power bills right now. Our request to PDD is to allow us to pay the bills in installments,” a group of consumers said. (KNS)
