Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNS): After the intervention of State Accountability Commission (SAC), the government has made Critical Care Ambulance Service operational in the state.
Reliable sources told KNS that the commission had sought information from the government on its alleged inaction in not starting the critical care Ambulance service scheme for which it had received a central grant of Rs 13.46 crores under the Highways Accident Relief Service Scheme.
The commission comprising of chairpersons Justice B A Khan (former Chief Justice) and other two members Justice J P singh and Justice Basher A Kirmani which met few days ago at Jammu took cognizance of the media reports in this regard, alleging official apathy in starting this service under the scheme and not using central grant of Rs 13.46 crores made sometime in 2015-16 and sought response from the government.
Responding to the notice of Accountability Commission, the health Ministry of the government according to the sources has explained the position before the commission, stating that the scheme under which this critical Care Ambulance Service Scheme was to be launched was in the process of implementation and till date about 108 Critical Care Ambulances out of 136 were being put to use and suitable deployment of retrofitted ambulances was being made whereas the remaining were in the process of being equipped for development.
The commission has sought further details from the government on whether these critical care ambulances were being suitably deployed to achieve the object of the Highway Accident Relief Service Scheme. The matter will be reviewed on the commission’s next hearing on 12 Mar 2018. (KNS)
