Various delegations meet Advisor; Raise demands, issues for development of area

Sopore, Jul 18 (KNS): Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar today chaired a meeting with top civil and security brass at Dak Bungalow Sopore to review the overall developmental and law & order scenario in the area.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, ADGP Muneer Ahmad Khan, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, IGP Kashmir S P Pani, DC Baramulla Nasir Ahmed Naqash and other senior officers.
While discussing the security situation with the senior officers, the Advisor called for close synergy between security agencies in maintaining peace in the district. He stresses for adopting SOPs in letter and spirit for effective management of law and order situation. He exhorted upon the concerned for creating friendly and conducive environment and to bridge the gap between people and police at large.
Earlier, the Advisor was briefed by the DC about the overall developmental scenario in the district. He said that several initiatives have been taken by the District administration for streamlining the traffic management system to decongest the traffic on the roads.
Meanwhile, the Advisor also met several deputations who apprised him about their grievances and demands. The deputations demanded strengthening of traffic police mechanism and establishment of truck terminal yard in the vicinity of fruit mandi besides establishing Bus stand in the area.
The people also demanded a proper dumping site for solid waste management. Various other issues of public importance viz power, water supply, ration supply etc were highlighted by the local people. The advisor assured them that their genuine grievances would be redressed on priority. (KNS)
