Says ‘such atrocious approach will further vitiate atmosphere’

Srinagar, Sep 09 (KNS): Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat on Sunday said that administration is indulging in arrest spree across Kashmir nabbing youth and dubbing them as ‘habitual stone pelters’.
In a statement issued to KNS, Bhat said in past few days police have resorted to indiscriminate detentions at various places and several young boys with careers ahead are being booked under serious charges of sedition and violence.
“Many have been held and booked under PSA. It is being believed that administration is under direction to effect arrests of youth ahead of Panchayat and civic body polls in the false hope to have violence- free elections here,” Bhat said.
Bhat said that such kind of an atrocious approach will further vitiate the atmosphere and is bound to squeeze the space for dissent as well any democratic process. He said that it is irony that apolitical bureaucrats at the helm are deciding timing and modus operandi for political and electoral initiatives and want the political class to follow suit.
Bhat said such attitudes smack either complete lack of understanding of the obtaining sensitivities or unfold a design to humble the state's people and politicians through might and maneuvering.
He said it is because of the unimaginative and atrocious policies unleashed by administration that state has become a tough place even for legitimate processes of peace and development.
He said people have perpetually been subjected to impositions in utmost disregard for their liberty and respect. “This is why that youth in particular is up against the pronounced system which they consider as hoax and fully hostile to their aspirations,” he said.
Bhat has demanded complete halt of excesses perpetrated to hold control and stage hoax of so called processes of peace and empowerment. (KNS)
