ACB arrests police Sub inspector while accepting bribe in Srinagar


Srinagar, Aug 14 (KNS): Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday arrested a police sub inspector of Police station Batmaloo Srinagar while accepting bribe From a truck driver.

According to statement,a truck driver had parked his truck, trawler near Batamaloo Srinagar. He was approached by a Sub Inspector of Police attached to P/S Batamaloo who asked the driver to produce the documents of the vehicle. The complainant showed the relevant documents to the Sub Inspector but the said Sub Inspector instead demanded a bribe of Rs.3000/- to return back the same documents.

Statements also reads, complainant meanwhile approached Anti Corruption Bureau Srinagar with a written complaint to this effect. A case FIR No.09 of 2020 U/S 13 & 7 PC Act r/w 161 IPC was registered in P/S ACB Srinagar. Accordingly a trap was laid near Kaman Post Batamaloo Srinagar and the Sub inspector who was identified as Farooq Ahmad Abassi Resident of Binyar Uri Baramulla presently posted in P/S Batamaloo was caught red handed while receiving the bribe money of Rs.3000/- in lieu of releasing the documents of the said vehicle which he had retained with him without any reason or rhyme.

Subsequently, after obtaining the police remand, the accused has been shifted to P/S Shaheed Gunj Srinagar for his lodgement.

Further investigation of the case is going on it said.(KNS)
