Pays tributes to slain youth

Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNS): A joint meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) Executive Members and Youth Action Committee office bearers presided over by the President AAC and Chairman Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was held at Mirwaiz Manzil, Nigeen on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the participants highlighted the martyrdom of the youth killed in Narbal, Bijbehara, Mustafabad Zainakote, Pulwama, Kupwara, Aishmuqam and other places of Kashmir valley and paid glowing tributes to the martyrs for rendering selfless sacrifices.
The leaders also expressed heartfelt sympathy with the parents and families of the martyred youth and expressed solidarity with them.
In the meeting the participants prayed to the Almighty Allah to accept the martyrdom of these youth and hoped these sacrifices which people of Kashmir have been offering right from 1931 would help take the Kashmir freedom struggle to its logical conclusion.
Welcoming the statement of the United Nations, Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon that the leadership of India and Pakistan should hold dialogue to resolve their difference, the percipients described the statement as positive and said that dialogue is the only way of resolving the differences between the two nuclear neighbours with strained relationship for almost past seven decades.
They said hostile and bitter relations between India and Pakistan was a result of the long-pending Kashmir dispute and true peace and stability can’t be achieved in the South Asian region until the dispute was not resolved in accordance with the wishes of the people.
The participants called upon the United Nations to play its role to resolve the Kashmir dispute and push the leadership of the two countries to initiate a meaningful dialogue in order to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue and all other pending issues between the two countries.
Besides discussing the party matters, the meeting also delved on the ongoing political situation and resistance movement in detail and expressed grave concern over the fate of Muslims in Jammu, Chenab Valley, and Pir Panjal region.
Terming the activities of the communal elements, fanatics and Hindutva groups in Jammu akin to a sword hanging over the Muslim population in the region, the members condemned such activities and appealed people to stay abreast of the nefarious designs of these communal elements and help the resistance leadership foil these designs.
The meeting stressed that Jammu Kashmir is a Muslim-majority state and people have Islamic identity, peculiar individuality and promised that the resistance leadership would ensure unity of all the regions of Jammu Kashmir and never allow the communal elements dissect the state on religious or regional lines.
The members welcomed the move of the Mirwaiz for calling a meeting of resistance groups, religious scholars, intellectuals, trade bodies, lawyers, student organizations and people from all walks of life and said that devising a unanimous strategy for carrying forward the resistance movement was the urgent need of the day.
They said it is important to focus on to resolve the people’s problems and carry forward Kashmir movement, which is just and close to the heart of every Kashmiri.
In his presidential address, the Mirwaiz said Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committtee was founded by late Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and his followers for spreading the message of Islam and fight for justice and right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir.
He said the organizations had been carrying forward its activities despite curbs and hurdles created by the ruling class, keeping up with the vision of its founder.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that the struggle would continue until people’s movement attains its final goal.
He said making the organization strong, vibrant and active was the need of the hour and besides the Awami Action Committtee, other constituents of APHC also needed to be made strong so that the resistance movement is taken forward properly.
Mirwaiz said Kashmir’s resistance movement is based on truth and facts and the movement had been going on since 1931.
He said Kashmir issue is a political and a human issue, which had to be resolved either through the implementation of the United Nations resolutions or through tripartite dialogue involving New Delhi, Islamabad and the real leadership of Kashmir.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman said only by resolving Kashmir issue can New Delhi and Islamabad come closer to one another and solve other issues between the two nuclear neighbours and thereby help in the arriving at regional peace and stability and start a new era of peace, prosperity and happiness.
Meanwhile, the services of noted journalists Khawaja Sanaullah Bhat and Sofi Ghulam Muhammad to the field of journalism, on their death anniversaries, the Mirwaiz paid tributes to the two veteran journalists of Kashmir saying that they had left their mark on the field of journalism by holding on to principle of honesty and by bringing transparency and highlighting the resistance movement.
He said for these services to Kashmiri nation, these veteran journalists would be remembered forever.
On the occasion, condolence were also offered to the Awami Action Committee (AAC) General Secretary and senior Hurriyat (M) leader G N Zaki on the death of her mother and the Mirwaiz prayed to the Almighty Allah for granting Jannat-ul-Firdous to the deceased and forbearance to the deceased family.
