Residents face problems, appeals NBC officials to expedite work

Srinagar, Mar 09 (KNS): Residents of Wanganpora Eidgah on Monday expressed strong resentment over the apathetic behavior of authorities who despite of passing six months, failed to complete laying of pipes in the area.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a delegation of the area said that National Board of Construction (NBC) department who is laying pipes in the areas has engraved the area from last six-months which has caused trouble to locality while moving from one place to another.
They alleged that from last three months, the pace of laying pipes in the area is very much slow.
“The pace of work by NBC department is sluggish even it failed to complete 100 feet from last three months”, delegation said.
They also said recently Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary also visited in the area and directed the concerned agency to expedite work without causing inconvenience to local population.
Delegation said though there are several vital departments located in the vicinity but authorities have left area unattended.
“There are several government installations including 33,000 KV Grid station which supplies electricity to Srinagar city, Government Boys High School, Private educational institutes, Drug Rehabilitation Center, Old Age Home, Mosques and others but still being the area most sensitive spot, there is a complete gridlock in completion of the work”, delegation said.
They said though locals used their every effort to reach officials and address the said issue but all goes in vain. They also said recently when fire incident occurred in the area, we approached Fire and Emergency Department who sent its men and machinery but due to havoc created by NBC while digging roads, fire tenders could not reach to spot.
When KNS contacted National Board of Construction (NBC) official, he said we are stuck due to delay by PHE department who excavated water pipe in the areas which was a hurdle in our work. He assured soon the PHE completed its work we will restart our task in the areas and will try to complete the job without any delay. (KNS)
