Football tourney to begin soon: Dir Sports

Jammu, Nov 19 (KNS): "Let's Play Football Tournament which is being organized by the Department Of Youth Services and Sports J&K under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (GOI) with the co-branding of Khelo India will begin very soon since the registration process for the same has concluded recently". This was stated by Director Youth Services and Sports Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad.
While providing details about the tournament Fayaz said that the online registration for the mega Football Tournament which begun on Oct 26th has concluded on 15th of this month. He said that a total no of 54,701 youth from all the 22 districts of the state have got themselves registered online of which 31% comprises of girl players. “The participating players have been registered under 3265 Schools and 3729 Teams”, he further added.
While providing the details about the districts that have taken lead in getting the maximum number of players registered online he said that District Baramullah has topped the process of registration with more than 6 thousand registrations followed by District Rajouri with 4400 and District Anantnag with about 3800 online registrations.
Shiekh Fayaz Ahmed also appreciated the efforts of all District Youth Services and Sports Officers and their subordinate staff for making the registration processes a great success with such record number of registrations. He made a mention about those hilly and far-flung districts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions as well where collecting details about the interested youth and getting them registered online was not an easy task. He appreciated the field staff of such districts and applauded their efforts. He hoped that the same spirit prevails during the conduct of the tournament.
Shiekh Fayaz Ahmed said that the Department of YS&S is very optimistic about Let's Play Football Tournament as it is the first of it's kind when Football lovers from every nook and corner of the state will get chance of showcasing their untapped talent. He assured that the talented lot in the participating players will be encouraged further and the players will be facilitated properly. (KNS)
