Srinagar, Jun 22 (KNS): At least eight forces personnel including three cops and five CRPF troopers sustained injuries on Friday after the militants attacked them in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police said that militants lobbed a grenade followed by firing on the security forces from a crowd when they were busy with law and order duties on Tral road, resulting in injuries to the nine security forces personnel.
“Security force personnel exercised maximum restraint after being attacked by terrorists to prevent any civilian casualties,” police said, adding that the injured security force personnel were evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment.
“#Tral grenade incident resulted in injury to 8 SFs : 5 Crpf and three Jkp. Information is preliminary in nature,” police tweeted.
Meanwhile, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen on Friday claimed the responsibility of grenade attack that took place in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district today.
In a tele-statement to KNS, Hizb operational spokesman, Burhan-ud-din said that “militants belonging to our outfit hurled grenade in Tral due to which eight CRPF troopers have sustained injuries.
He said that “the field operational commander, Muhammad Bin Qasim has directed its cadre to speed up such attacks.” (KNS)
