4 militants killed in two separate encounters in South Kashmir


Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): Four militants were killed on Saturday in two separate encounters in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and Pulwama district, an official said.
According to Kashmir News Service, two militants were killed in Dadura area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district while as two more militants were killed in Chinigam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district.
An official said that Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by joint team of Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Dadura and Chinigam villages of Pulwama and Kulgam districts of south Kashmir.
“During late hours of Friday, joint operation was launched in Chinigam village. Soon after the contact with militants was established they fired upon the search party, triggering an encounter in the area”, he said and added two militants were killed in retaliatory fire.
He further said another CASO was launched in Dadura area of Pulwama district after forces received tip off about presence of militants in the area. “As search party zeroed in the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately which was responded, resulting the killing of two militants”.
The official said initially the militants were given chance to surrender which they refused.
He identified the militants slain in Chinagam encounter as Tariq Ahmad Mir of Zangalpora and Sameer Bhai alias Usman, a resident of Punjab Pakistan. He said both killed militants were associated with Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and were involved in several criminal activities in the area.
He maintained that militants killed in Pulwama gunfight have not been identified yet.
However authorities snapped slow mobile internet connectivity in both the district to maintain law and order. (KNS)
