3 militants killed in Mujgund gunfight identified: Police

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNS): Police has said that it has identified all the three militants killed in a gunfight on Sunday morning in Mujgund area in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
In a statement issued on Sunday evening police said ‘three militants killed in Mujgund gunfight have been identified as Mudasir Rashid Parray of Hajin Bandipora, Saqib Bilal Sheikh of Hajin Bandipora and from the material evidence collected, one militant is learnt to be a Pakistani identified as Ali. The trio were affiliated with proscribed LeT militant outfit’.
Police in its statement also claimed that the slain militants were wanted for their complicity in terror crimes. Ali, according to police records, was involved in several militancy related cases already registered against him including attacks on security establishments and civilian excesses adding that ‘he was involved in recruitments in Hajin and Sumbal areas of Bandipora’.
Saying that In the initial exchange of fire, one army man was injured who is admitted in hospital, police in its statement said ‘three civilians also sustained injuries as the area was in open and the injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. They are stated to be stable.’
Claiming the recovery of huge quantity of arms & ammunition including rifles from the site of encounter,Police said’ all these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and probe their complicity in other terror cases’.
Police asked civilians not to venture inside the encounter zone keeping in view the apprehension that such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. (KNS)
