The highway remained closed since Monday after the Valley received a fresh snowfall, leading to the slippery conditions of the road besides landslides as well.
As a precautionary measure, the authorities closed the highway.
IGP further said that the road clearance work is on currently. “We expect that the traffic will be allowed to ply from Thursday evening onwards but there is no guarantee at all,” he said.
He said that the work to repair the and clear the road has been started. “We have pressed the men and machinery to repair and clear the road,” he said.
Earlier, reports said that hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on the highway throughout the day.
Reports said the stranded commuters also protested for not allowing them to reach their destinations.
