20 traders booked, Rs 15,300 fine realized at B’Pora

BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 12(KNS): The market checking squad of the Legal Metrology Department, Bandipora today booked 20 traders and realized a fine of Rs 15,300 from the erring shopkeepers for different violations here.

Taking strong note of the complaints of over-pricing, the district administration has launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over pricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.

Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Owais Ahmad has directed all the concerned officers to ensure regular inspection of markets falling within their respective jurisdiction and take strict action against those indulging in overpricing and other malpractices.

The Department of Legal Metrology led by Assistant Controller conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, poultry, mutton sellers, Kiryana, Bakery, LPG distributors and fuel dispensing pumps at Malangam,Watpora, Onagam and main market.

During the inspection, 20 traders were booked under different laws for violation of various legal metrology laws and a fine of Rs 15300 was imposed on erring traders.

On the occasion, officers stressed on the traders to follow the rules in letter and spirit and also asked the vendors to adhere to the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts.(KNS)
