DDC asks BDOs to Improve performance at Ground Level

Kupwara, June 12 (KNS): Work is apace on 10705 different rural development works in all 26 blocks of Kupwara district under MGNREGA at an estimated cost of Rs.15,829crore during current financial year.
This was stated at an officers meeting held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg to review the progress of Rural Development works. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone was also present.
The meeting was informed that 28 lakh mandays of work has been targeted to be generated in the district with Labour Budget of Rs.100.91 crore during current financial year; of this, 2.39 lakh mandays of work has been generated so far.
The meeting was further informed that 4240 works have been approved under Saturated Mode Plan for 3 years to be taken up in the district with an estimated cost of Rs.13461 crore. These works shall be monitored under Geographical Information System (GIS).
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC asked BDOs to improve the performance at ground level and speed up the process of estimation so that the targeted works could be taken up in hand on time and the benefits of the works percolate down to the target public. He directed them to clear all liabilities pending at different stages and complete on-going verification of job cards.
The DDC directed BDOs to submit statements of Labour budget performance, works completed so far, Aadhaar based payment and Secure Program on daily basis.
Referring to the distribution of masks, the DDC asked the concerned officers to submit list of beneficiaries Panchayat wise both BPL and APL duly countersigned by Sarpanchs and BDC Chairpersons.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer, District Information Officer, Block Development Officers and other concerned attended the meeting.
