‘Roll back media policy’, Nazir Yatoo to government

Srinagar, June 12 (KNS): PDP senior leader Er. Nazir yatoo on Friday protested in Srinagar and demanded the rollback of media policy 2020.
According to KNS correspondent, the PDP leader first protested in Lalchowk and then went to Media facilitation centre located at Department of Information and Public Relations office.
Speaking to media Yatoo said " It is unfortunate that on June 2 government has come up with media policy in J&K. Media is the voice of people living in far fling areas".
He further said that it was media that brought before the food scam, that is why I demand the roll back of it." Even Constitution gives us the right to speak and right to freedom of expression. But today they are going against the Constitution and distorring it".
"If government don't take this law back and don't speaks on this issue then I will go for long hunger strike" he added.
It is pertinent to mention few days before government approves Media policy 2020 that gives unhindered powers to the government to decide what is fake, unethical and anti-national, based on which it can act against journalists, print and electronic organisations from the legal, police action to holding back government advertisements in J&K.
Many local parties have condemned media policy and termed it an assualt on freedom of press.(KNS)
