Preserving heritage in whatever form it is possible: Wani

Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNS): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Sunday kick-started heritage week drive at Badamwari Hawal.
According to SMC, Commissioner Riyaz Ahmed Wani flagged off the drive in presence of Joint Commissioner SMC Abdul Qasim and Chief Sanitation Officer Sofi Akbar at Badamwari.
On the occasion hundreds of Sanitary workers were put to task for cleaning of backwaters of Badamwari.
The Commissioner SMC has stressed on conducting multiple Sanitation drives at different heritage site of Srinagar city.
“Culture and heritage of any region is it's identify and it is primarily a concern to preserve and conserve our heritage in whatever form it is because once it is lost it cannot be regained,” said Wani.
A special Sanitation drive as already chalked out for a week will be undertaken for heritage places, buildings including various shrines of Khanqa-e-moula, Dastageer Sahib shrine, Makhdoom Sahib, Bulbul Sahib shrine, Mughal Gardens, Museums and other designated places within the jurisdiction of Srinagar Municipal Corporation added Wani.
