‘We want strong action against Farooq Abdullah over his remarks’

Srinagar, Nov 19 (KNS): The Ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Sunday alleged that National Conference have brazenly looted the state over seventy years without caring for aspirations and wishes of people and they are now in a serious effort to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Party also demanded strong action against National conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah over his remarks that “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is Pakistan's and india does not have the capacity to wrist it".
“From last70 years they (NC) looted the people of the Jammu and Kashmir. They don’t want peace here. They just want to disrupt the atmosphere in the valley. I believe what Farooq Abdullah is saying these days is just to befool the people.” BJP’s National Vice President Avinash Rai Khana told KNS over phone from New Delhi.
The BJP’s National leader was reacting to a statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah wherein he without naming BJP has lambasted the overt and covert attempts being made to weaken Article 370 and also has stated that National Conference will not allow the attempts of repealing Article 35-A to succeed.
Avinash Rai Khana who is also in-charge of Kashmir affairs said: “The fact is that National conference has nothing concrete to offer to the people of Kashmir except false promises and dubious political machinations to ensure that the pot continues to boil in Kashmir,”
He alleged that the parents in Kashmir valley want to bring their children back who have joined the militancy but, unfortunately at the same time National Conference is not happy with this. “I fail to understand that being a Member Parliament of the country, how he is issuing statements in favour of Pakistan. BJP demand strong action against him for his remarks,” the BJP leader maintained.
Khana alleged that during the decades it ruled the state, the party made no move to resolve the Kashmir imbroglio created by it due to its flawed policies.
The BJP leader also accused national conference of making “false promises and loud statements” which led to the “current mess” and created a “wide rift between the Valley (people) and rest of the nation.
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said that the coalition government’s main job was to bring an end to the ‘vicious cycle of loot and corruption practiced by National conference’. “The most important political issue for coalition government was to free people from the national conference loot. Now when the state has been freed from such a rule and the development-orientated government is in place, this party is not happy and is creating confusion among the people by giving such statements,” he said.
It is to mention here that National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday reiterated grant of regional autonomy to different regions in Jammu and Kashmir to assuage the aspirations of people.
“J&K is a unique state and needs special dispensation in terms of regional autonomy to satiate the urges of various regions”, Dr Abdullah has said while speaking at a grand reception accorded at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan on his re-elections as National Conference President.
Without naming the BJP, he has lambasted the overt and covert attempts being made to weaken Article 370 and said demand of autonomy is within the frame-work of the Constitution. He said National Conference will not allow the attempts of repealing Article 35-A to succeed.
Referring to over-reaction on his recent statement on PoK, Dr Abdullah invoked the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee saying that the sanctity of the Line of Control could not be trampled by crossing over during Kargil incursion. He also referred to return of the strategically crucial Haji Peer, conquered in 1965 and said National Conference had not advocated for this but Indian nation as such took this decision. “However, if India wants to liberate the PoK, let they move towards LoC with guns”, he had said.
He also cautioned against the machinations of those trying to divide people in the name of religion and said National Conference will not allow their agenda to succeed in Jammu and Kashmir, which is a shinning symbol of harmony and tranquility. (KNS)
