‘NC President should have taken all-party delegation to Delhi’

Srinagar, Jul 30 (KNS): Several mainstream leaders in Kashmir on Tuesday said that Conference President Farooq Abdullah instead of seeking an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi National should have taken an all-party delegation to New Delhi to apprise the PM about the present situation in the state.

Several leaders Kashmir News Service (KNS) spoke to said Abdullah and two NC Lok Sabha members - Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi and Mohammad Akbar Lone - have sought time to meet the prime minister urgently. “Instead they should have taken all the political parties in the state into confidence and taken an all-party delegation to New Delhi to talk about the current situation in the state,” they said.

Earlier on Monday, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had requested Abdullah to call an all-party meet in the state to discuss the prevailing situation.

Speculations are rife in the Valley that the Centre is planning to do away with Article 35A, which gives special privileges to the state’s residents. These speculations have dominated the discourse in Kashmir over the past few days. (KNS)
