Tangmarg, November 12 (KNS): In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring effective public service delivery, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today presided over a Block Diwas programme at Town Hall Tangmarg. The event was part of the government’s ongoing public outreach and grievance redressal initiative aimed at taking administration to the doorstep of the people.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, PRI members, and officers from various line departments. During the event, the DC patiently listened to public grievances and demands related to civic amenities, road connectivity, healthcare, and welfare schemes. He issued on-spot directions to the concerned officers for prompt redressal of genuine issues and assured that the administration is working in close coordination to strengthen service delivery across all sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Minga Sherpa highlighted that Block Diwas serves as a vital platform connecting the administration with the public, allowing citizens to express their concerns directly. He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure transparent, accountable, and responsive governance, emphasizing that no area—no matter how remote—will be left behind in the developmental process.

On the occasion, sanction letters for sheep units were distributed among eligible beneficiaries under the Sheep Husbandry Department, encouraging youth to pursue self-employment and sustainable livelihood options. As part of the district’s green initiative, DC Sherpa also planted a sapling in the premises of Town Hall Tangmarg, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to environmental conservation and public participation.

Meanwhile, as part of his continuous monitoring drive, DC Minga Sherpa conducted an extensive inspection of various ongoing developmental projects in Tangmarg and Gulmarg areas. He reviewed the construction of the new Tehsil Office at Kunzer, the Block Learning Center, and ongoing works at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Gulmarg.

During the inspection, the DC directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. He also inspected roadside locations along GT Road where mobile toilet units have been installed for tourists’ convenience and directed concerned officers to ensure their proper upkeep and functionality.
